April is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and brings nearly a decade of experience in frontline community mental health settings.
Central to her practice is her commitment to building meaningful and impactful therapeutic relationships, ensuring sensitivity to trauma, and maintaining mindful awareness of societal influences. April has extensive experience supporting high-achieving individuals who have faced childhood emotional neglect and are dealing with issues such as self-esteem, self-criticism, people-pleasing, perfectionism, disordered eating, and difficulties in forming healthy relationships. Her expertise also extends to helping clients navigate complex cultural identities, particularly where Western and Eastern values intersect.
April utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach to develop treatment plans that fit each client’s individual needs. By drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, and attachment-based therapy, she helps clients work through challenging emotions and deeply ingrained patterns of thought and behaviour. Her goal is to support emotional healing and ensure that therapy aligns with each client’s values, guiding them towards sustainable, holistic improvements in their overall well-being.
April warmly welcomes clients from diverse backgrounds and is dedicated to empowering them to tap into their inherent strength and resilience. Whether clients are new to therapy or returning, she honours their courage in seeking support and their commitment to personal growth. April provides a light-hearted, non-judgmental environment where clients’ feelings and experiences are deeply respected and guide the way.
Outside of therapy, April enjoys exploring new destinations, binge-watching true crime documentaries, and making yet another cup of coffee. Her down-to-earth attitude, humour, and genuine empathy reflect her belief in being a real person who happens to be a therapist, not the other way around.
